Retour Sur la Polémique Entre Abū Bakr Al-Rāzī Et Abū Al-Qāsim Al-Balḫī: Conjecture Sur Un Écho du Kitāb Al-Zumurrud d'Ibn Al-Rāwandī Dans Les Maṭālib Al-ʿāliya de Faḫr Al-Dīn Al-Rāzī.Marwan Rashed - 2024 - Arabic Sciences and Philosophy 34 (1):75-93.
This article revisits the controversy between Abū Bakr al-Rāzī and Abū al-Qāsim al-Balḫī. Based on the testimony of the Kitāb taṯbīt dalāʾil al-nubuwwa of the Qāḍī ʿAbd al-Ǧabbār, it is shown that the two philosophers must have clashed at the court of Aḥmad b. Sahl al-Marwazī, governor of Balḫ, during the 910s, and that the virulence of the tone of their exchange can be explained above all by this context of professional rivalry. In terms of content, their conversation must (...)

The Social Reflections of Differentiation Between Ashʿarism and Hanbalism.Ümüt Toru - 2018 - Cumhuriyet İlahiyat Dergisi 22 (1):259-292.
There is a close relationship between Ashʿarism and Ḥanbalism since the emergence of Ashʿarism. However, they often conflicted with each other as they approached to religious matters from different perspectives. These conflicts were not only limited to theological discussions but also turned into social conflicts, which occasionally resulted with deaths. First massive events occurred in 429/1038 in Baghdād between Ashʿarites and Ḥanbalities. When Niẓām al-Mulk was appointed as vizier, the conflicts reached a peak. The apparent reason of the conflicts was (...)

Understanding the developments in the early period when Ṣūfism became widespread in the Islamic society, both necessitates studies on other disciplines from Ṣūfism, and also requires the consideration of Ṣūfism from the perspective of other religious sciences. In this regard, one of the important names is the famous Ḥanbalī scholar Abū Yaʿlā al-Farrā. Abū Yaʿlā al-Farrā who was interested in ḥadīth, Islamic law and tafsīr as well as Ṣūfism and theological issues, has an important place especially (...)

    Al-Qāḍī al-Nu‘mān b. Muḥammad al-Maghribī (m. 363/974). Risālat Dhāt al-Bayān fī l-Radd ‘alā Ibn Qutayba ou L’épître de l’Éloquente clarification concernant la réfutation d’Ibn Qutayba (II). [REVIEW]Avraham Hakim - 2010 - Al-Qantara 31 (2):351-369.

    The Muwashshaḥāt and the Kharjas Tell their Own Story.Jareer A. Abu-Haidar, Ibn Baqi & Ihsan Abbas - 2005 - Al-Qantara 26 (1):43-98.

Al-Farabi's commentary and short treatise on Aristotle's De interpretatione. Fārābī, Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad Abū Naṣr al- Fārābī & Abū-Naṣr Muḥammad Ibn-Muḥammad al- Farābī - 1981 - London: Published for the British Academy by Oxford University Press. Edited by F. W. Zimmermann.
"Al-Farabi of Baghdad (c. 870-950) is the first major representative of the medieval Arabic Aristotelianism which came to influence the Christian West so profoundly. In the Islamic world his writings on logic set the pattern for the future and virtually created Islamic philosophy. He is also important as a witness to the study of Aristotle in late antiquity, demonstrating a knowledge of Galen and the exegetical tradition of Porphyry. This translation is based on a fresh study of the Arabic manuscripts. (...)

al-Zarkashī, an ethnic Turk, is an important hadith, fiqh and commentary scholar who lived during the Mamlūks period. He was taught by some of the leading scholars of his era, such as Alā al-Dīn Mughultay (d. 762/1360), Imād al-Dīn Ibn Kashīr (d. 774/1372) ve Jamal al-Dīn al-Asnawī (d. 772/1370), and he grew up under their mentorship.
